(wait, maybe I invented that...)&lt;BR/&gt;some of those histories need help. And, arguably, since the folio was compiled by his buddies after he died, Shakespeare himself probably put on much different plays - maybe shorter ones? Groundlings wouldn't stand for too long I don't think. The comedies are a bit more varied, and I must say I've never really read any speculation as to why Shakespeare chose them. soon, so I'm looking forward to that.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;~z, that's a good question. Shakespeare stole a good deal of his ideas, actually, but that's not really a point against him. I've heard a lot of modern writers say that it's not getting the idea that's the hard part, it's what one does with them. Shakespeare was a great craftsman and more in tune with the human condition than any other writer I've ever encountered. There are moments of pure brilliance, though--the paper crown scene (3 Henry VI, Act I, Scene 4) just gives me chills, and Margaret of Anjou is one of the most remarkable characters in all of Shakespeare.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;You ought to look up the old BBC Complete Shakespeare productions of the tetralogy--very "modern" in concept, I suppose, but quite good. The list goes on throughout the canon.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;just distracted by some Hamlet, the advice to the actor's up to asking Guildy to play the pipe. Brilliant! &lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;I think shakespeare is just as good read as seen. seen and read blur in intent sometimes anyway. &lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;The play within a play which Hamlet constantly interrupts. I don't need actors to see that. &lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;My own knowledge of acting actors theatre and staging slots it all in to place in mind and Hamlet is that annoying guy in the crowd who won't shut the hell up.&lt;BR/&gt;&lt;BR/&gt;Then I found Constance.
